Bibliography Style Sheet

Your bibliography should be written on a separate sheet of paper and included at the end of the project. Head the paper with the word "Bibliography" centered at the top. List sources alphabetically by author's last name or by the title if there is no author.


BOOKS
Author (Last Name, First Name). Title (Italicized on a word processor or underlined on a typewriter or handwritten). Where published (city): Publisher, Date of Publication.


Example:
Barrows, John. Expedition to the Far Side of Antarctica. Chicago: Children's Press, 1998.


Editor (Last Name, First Name). Title (Italicized on a word processor or underlined on a typewriter or handwritten). Where published (city): Publisher, Date of Publication.

Example:
Canby, Marilyn, ed. Great Science Experiments. New York: Holt Publishing Company, 1998.

MAGAZINE and NEWSPAPER ARTICLES
Signed Article:
Author (Last Name, First Name). "Title of Magazine Article (in quotes)." Title of Magazine (Italicized on a word processor or underlined on a typewriter or handwritten), Date of Magazine, Pages used.


Example:
Gonzales, Hector. "Plant Life in Goleta, California." Journal of Natural History, June 18, 1997, pp.35-39.


Unsigned Article:
"Title of Magazine Article (in quotes)." Title of Magazine (Italicized on a word processor or underlined on a typewriter or handwritten), Date of Magazine, Pages used.


Example:
"Skateboarding in Santa Barbara City." Thrasher Magazine, April 1998, pp. 89-95.

ENCYCLOPEDIA ARTICLES
Signed Article:
Author (Last Name, First Name). "Title of article (in quotes)." Title of Encyclopedia (Italicized on a word processor or underlined on a typewriter or handwritten), Date of Encyclopedia.


Example:
Jacobsen, Donald. "Chemical Elements." World Book Encyclopedia, 1998.


Unsigned Article:
"Title of article (in quotes)." Title of Encyclopedia (Italicized on a word processor or underlined on a typewriter or handwritten), Date of Encyclopedia.


Example:
"Germany." Compton's Encyclopedia, 1998.

CD-ROM
Author (Last Name, First Name), if signed. "Title of Article (in quotes)." Title of CD-ROM (in italics), Date of CD-ROM. (CD-ROM)

Example:
Jamison, Connie. "Albert Einstein." Microsoft Encarta, 1998. (CD-ROM)

INTERNET
Author's Name (if known). "Title of document (in quotes)." Title of Site (in Italics). Date site was visited (in parentheses)


Example:
"Taiga." Biomes of the World. <http://cissus.mobot.org/MBGnet/index.htm> (April 1, 1998)


INTERVIEW
Name of person interviewed. Type of Interview (Personal, Telephone, Email). Date.


Example:
Griffith, Mary. Telephone interview. April 1, 1998.
