Welcom:

Lincoln Elementary School is one of the five elementary schools in the Burlingame School District. Students completing the K-5 program attend Burlingame Intermediate School (BIS) for grades 6-8.

Lincoln School has a current enrollment of 370 students in grades K-5. An average of 20:1 is the enrollment in grades 1-3. Kindergarten, fourth, and fifth grades average 27 students. A staggered reading schedule in K-3 allows for teachers to work in small groups in the morning and in the afternoon.

The Lincoln staff, composed of 18 fully credentialed classroom teachers, work closely together to provide an academic focus that is developmentally appropriate through a standards based curriculum. An administrator, 9 classified employees and 8 classroom specialists round out the Lincoln team. The classroom specialist teachers work with students in the areas of physical education, music, library, literacy, reading assistance and English Language development.

On-site day care, before and after school is provided through the Children's Creative Learning Center. Information regarding this program and other approved day care programs are available in the school office.

The Lincoln staff continually pursues enhanced classroom instructional techniques and strategies through workshops and conferences held both in and out of the District. Staff Development Days are held prior to the opening of school and during the school year on our Early Release Day each Tuesday. These days contribute greatly to on-going professional growth.

The Academic Performance index is the centerpiece of the statewide accountability system for the Caifornia public schools. Last year, Lincoln School received an API score of 918 which placed the school in the top 10% of schools statewide.

The School Site Council is composed of 5 parents and 5 staff members which include 3 teachers, a classified employee and the principal. The SSC oversees school improvement efforts, including annual curriculum goals, staff development days and determining expenditures for this categorical program.

A Caring Community Program is being implemented for students in grades K-5. Students are provided with the tools necessary to promote self-esteem in a school environment that encourages children to celebrate diversity and fosters a spirit of fairness, trust, and understanding.

Student safety is one of our highest priorities at Lincoln School. Lincoln has clearly defined rules for student conduct and enforces them in a consistent and non-discriminating manner.

The Student Council composed of students in grades 3-5 under the direction and guidance of a classroom teacher, take responsibility for addressing environmental issues in and around the school, assist with our recycling program and in outreach programs as well as leadership, setting a standard for the school and the community.

Talk a walk around the school and you can see the pride we all take in our campus and the efforts made by students, parents and the staff in maintaining a setting that fosters a sense of physical and emotional well being in the work place for all in the learning community.

Lincoln School is very proud of its parent involvement and PTA organization. Parents participate in all aspects of the school setting and can be seen working daily in the library, on the playground, in the computer lab and in the classrooms. Without our host of volunteers, we would not be able to offer the rich and varied programs we currently have in place. Classroom parents are assigned to each classroom and assume responsibility for organizing school parties, providing drivers for field trips and for assisting the teacher in the many projects and activities that make up the school year.

The Burlingame Community for Education (BCE) is a non-profit foundation dedicated to enhancing the educational opportunities of the children in Burlingame School District. Foundation donations to our schools support programs and services which benefit every student in the District.

The Burlingame School District in conjunction with the Burlingame Park and Recreation Department offer students in grades K-5 an opportunity to participate in a variety of after school programs held on site. Science, drama, chess, art, poetry, writing as well as many sports activities are available for a fee.

Kindergarten registration begins in February. A Kindergarten Assessment and Orientation Meeting are provided to better meet the needs of students and parents and to acquaint our new familes with Lincoln School.
