Lincoln Site Plan 2007-2008 pdf

The School Site Council is composed of five parent volunteers and five members of the Lincoln faculty, including the principal, three certificated teachers and a classified representative. The site council's responsibilities include setting direction for and approving our annual School Site Plan; deciding how to allocate site funds for curriculum and facilities-related projects; providing input for district-wide programs/initiatives.

Our goals for 2007-08 are:

Goal 1: All K-5 students will increase knowledge of Science concepts. Students in grade K-5 will participate in hands-on science curriculum to explore and differentiate instruction, investigate and discover the their world based on curriculum standards. K-5 classroom assessments will measure our progress and an additional standardized evaluation tool will be used in Grade 5.

Goal 2: All K-5 students will increase their literacy, reading comprehension, and writing skills. Measurements of progress include state, district, and classroom evaluations.

The ultimate goal of California State Standards is to make a significant change in student learning. Through these changes, the performance of all students will be improved. The activities to meet these goals are listed in our recent plan available in our SSC binder in the office.

Goal 3: Goal 3: All students in grade K-5 will increase their math skills. Our goals are to continue professional development and steadily improve student performance such as increased problem-solving or skills and to further refine instructional strategies that align with the CA State Standards for math.

To achieve these goals, teachers will meet at grade level and across grade levels resulting in steady improvement for each grade cohort as it progresses over the year. Several of our teachers are piloting the math programs and sharing findings with staff. Nine teachers are attending the MAC training this year and sharing strategies and materials with staff. Teachers review and analyze STAR, District, and classroom data. This process provides instruction based on data to meet all student needs in a variety of settings using varied materials and differentiated instructional strategies.

Goal 4: The K-5 staff nurtures steady development of the whole child over the child's multi-year tenure at Lincoln. During that time, Lincoln aims to empower every individual to work independently, think critically, and take part in the world in a compassionate and confident manner.

To achieve this mission, the SSC supports yoga instruction as a supplement to the physical education program. Yoga training aims to improve flexibility, balance and coordination, and improve students' concentration, self-awareness and control.

The SSC supports counseling for students whose social and emotional problems hamper their academic performance and well-being. Site data will be used to measure our progress toward achieving these goals and analyze our strategies.
