How The Program Works The librarian identifies books that will enrich our collection. These books are then purchased with PTA monies and put up for adoption. When a book is adopted, the proceeds are returned to the PTA for future library purchases. In the interest of making life easy for people who would like to adopt books, the Adopt-A-Book committee decided to make the price $15 per book. How You Can Adopt-A-Book Drop by the library. Right beside the front door there is an Adopt-A-Book shelf where available books are located. Simply choose your book, fill out the form, and give your form, book, and money to the library staff. The Fun Part All books that are adopted feature a permannet book plate that acknowledges who donated the book and the honoree. Books are typically adopted in honor of Lincoln students, teachers or staff members. However, we also have books adopted in honor of dogs, horses, fish, and nearly all members of the animal kingdom. Children love to find books in the library they've adopted or that have been adopted in their honor. What's Next? A letter of thanks is sent to the donor and a letter informing the honoree that a book has been adopted by ....... in their honor is being held in the library, available only to the honoree for the first check out. This book wlll be held for two weeks, then it will become a permanent part of the Lincoln Library Collection.
